The ocean is home to some of the most majestic creatures on Earth, and few are as awe-inspiring as the whales. Watching them glide through the water or leap in joyful bursts is a sight that never loses its magic. I’ve had the incredible privilege of having close encounters with these magnificent giants, including a whale and its calf while snorkeling—an experience that will stay with me forever. But it’s not just whales that capture the imagination. I’ve also been lucky enough to see walruses, elephant seals, and even sea otters. Sea otters, with their playful personalities, are a particular delight—whether they’re cracking open clams on their backs or napping together, holding paws in the water. These creatures spend much of their lives in the water, migrating across vast oceans in search of food before returning to their breeding colonies. Every moment spent watching these incredible animals is a reminder of the wild’s beauty, its vastness, and the deep connection between life on land and sea.
