The eyes are the windows of the soul is a common expression. I find that when taking a portrait of an animal, the eyes are what gives it an air of life, personality and character. Nothing connects a viewer to an image like the eyes do. The images on this page show a variety of animals that I was fortunate enough to get really close to. This is the type of Portrait photography that enjoy most. I find that when photographing people natural poses are often difficult to imitate. Animals on the other hand are much more natural in their poses, even though in some cases with pets they like to "ham" it up.
