Models (Portraits)—probably the most transformative area of my photography journey, where I’ve learned and grown the most! What I’ve found most eye-opening are the lessons about light—both natural and artificial—and how it plays such a crucial role in setting the mood of a photo. The way light shapes a subject, highlights their features, and creates atmosphere is something I now pay close attention to, whether I’m working with natural sunlight or experimenting with strobes, flashes, or colored lights. It’s amazing how the right lighting can completely change the feel of an image.
Another key lesson has been about posing—figuring out how to guide people into the most flattering positions to not only highlight their physical features but also bring out their personality. Finding the right perspective and angle is everything! It’s about telling their story in a way that feels both authentic and beautiful. These lessons have also crossed over into my wildlife photography, where I’ve been able to use similar techniques to better capture animals in flattering, natural poses.
Still, despite all the growth, people photography remains one of my biggest challenges. It’s an artistic perspective that doesn’t come naturally to me, and it can be stressful trying to get everything just right. But with each shoot, I’ve gained more confidence and insight. It’s definitely a work in progress, but the more I dive into this side of photography, the more I appreciate the creative challenge it offers.
