T R A V E L  L O C A T I O N S:

All the photos on this website are a result of various trips that I have taken with my wife over the numerous years we have been together. I am fortunate to have a partner that loves to research all our travel destinations to ensure that we get the most out of each of our trips. All our trips are set up according to the following plan:

  1. We discuss what we want to see in terms of nature and wildlife.

  2. We discuss how much time we can spend on the trip (related to work schedules and time off we get form work)

  3. We discuss the budget we are will in to spend on the trip

  4. We then pick a location. based on the first 3 steps and look into possible activities that we can do there.

    • Vehicle Safari, walking safari, boat safari, self-driving

    • Birding, Snorkeling, kayaking, etc.

  5. What kind of accommodations look good (Camps for Safari, Hotels, BnB, Cottages, Small boutique hotels, etc)

  6. What logistical arrangements need to be made.

    • Air Travel to country

    • Air Travel within the country

    • Car transfers to hotels, camps, national parks, etc.

    • Do we need to hire local guides (always a good idea), local drivers, local people to arrange our stays at the different places we are visiting

    • What do we need in terms of Visa's Park Passes, etc.

We usually approach a local tour outfitter with what we would like to do and ask them to build us a trip according to our specifications. We also like to get our driver and guide so that we have the flexibility to dictate what we want to do once we are in country and to provide us with the flexibility to be able to spend more time on certain outings versus other outings.

This next section describes briefly the different outings we have had over the last 20 years from most recent backwards.

  • Sri Lanka and India Feb 2026:  This was a 15-day Sri Lanka + Tigers Photo Tour itinerary put together by our friends at Chris Bray and Annabel https://chrisbrayphotography.com/. Since we took this tour on our own with them, we were able to remove some items we were not overly interested in, and add 3 days at the end to drive to Agra to see the Red Fort and the Taj Mahal. It was an awesome experience led by two fun and energetic group leaders (Highly recommended)

  • Alaska Grizzly Bear 2025:

  • Yellowstone National Park Sep 2020 / Jun 2025 (Montana): This was a 6-day quick trip to Yellowstone National Park, staying in Gardiner Montana and using that entrance to the park. It completed a previous visit where we stayed in at the Southern entrance of the Park. My wife also organized all the logistics for this short trip which focused on seeing bears and wolves.

  • Palau 2025: This was a 14-day trip organized completely by my partner and included Koror (and its cultural museums and war museums), multiple days of exploration by boat, Kayak, and snorkeling of Rock Island National Park, and a tour of the Northern Region to see traditional Bai's as well as The Islands Capital Buildings and some WW II Memorials. This trip was a combination of nice relaxation around the beaches (snorkeling and kayaking) and some cultural exploration.

  • Namibia Apr 2024: This was a 16-day trip to Namibia. While we decided on the locations we wanted to visit, we used Rhythm Africa Tours and Safaris (https://www.rhythmafricatours.com/) to set up our logistics for the trip. Craig and Lisa, the founders have over 40 years' experience in the business and we have both visited them while they were running Safari camps in Botswana and Belize and in South Africa. We consider them both our friends and an invaluable resource for these types of trips. Their knowledge and connections in the Southern African region are unmatched. The locations we visited were; Windhoek, Little Kuala, Sossuvlei, Wallis Bay, Skeleton Coast, and Etosha.

  • Svalbard Jun/July 2023: This was a 14-day trip to the Arctic Circle, specifically around Svalbard. we used Aurora Expeditions (https://www.aurora-expeditions.com/) and signed up for the "Svalbard in Depth" adventure cruise. We were once again on the Silvia Earle with Howard Whelan as our expedition leader. Aurora Expeditions does a great job in running expedition style cruises where the focus is on getting the passengers of the ship as often as possible through landings on various parts of the island as well as going on zodiac rides, kayak paddles and other activities.

  • Antarctica Dec/Jan 2023: This was an 18-day trip departing from Ushuaia and crossing the Drake Passage to Antarctica. we used Aurora Expeditions (https://www.aurora-expeditions.com/) and signed up for the "Antarctic Peninsula, South Georgia and the Falkland Islands" Expedition. We were on board of the Sylvia Earle, a special X-Bow ship designed for smooth sailing to Antarctica. We started in Ushuaia with Howard Whelan as our expedition leader and proceeded through the Drake passage to land at Fournier Bay, Neko Harbor, Portal Point, Hydra Rocks and on to the Waddell Sea to The Naze. Then proceeded to Devil Island, Duse Bay, Point Wild, Elephant Island and on to the South Shetland Island. After visiting the South Shetland Islands we proceeded to the South Scotia Sea on to Gold Harbor & Cooper Bay, South Georgia. From there we stopped at Hercules Bay, Grytviken, Fortuna Bay, and Stromness (all in South Georgia). We then proceeded to sail to the Falkland Islands and stopped at the city of Stanley. We also stopped at a few small Islands in the area (Sanders Island and Carcass Island). After that it was back to Ushuaia and the end of this awesome trip.
